Friday 15-Minute Runs

Luckily, the only 2 other runs that I considered getting done this week were a 15-minute and a 5K. After running the 10K the day before, I decided to treat myself to the shorter run. This was VERY refreshing. I had just finished my workout, my mom called, and I decided to just get the 15-minutes done while on the phone. This time, I was able to achieve conversational pace. I started the run at a 5.5mph pace which is around an 11'00-minute mile. As I've said before, it is so weird to me how I feel like treadmills make me feel like I'm running fast. Despite this being a slow pace for me, it didn't feel slow. I ultimately increased the pace a little bit, but I just cruised. It was nice talking on the phone while running today because I really was trying to take it easy and the run flew by. I was absolutely drenched in sweat though which I guess is a good thing, but it was surprising given I was indoors and running slower.

I think these runs are super important. They kind of allow you to build your confidence back, which was needed for me after that horrible run on Thursday. I was able to just run without having to really think ab out running. It went by so fast and then I still get the joy of knowing that I ran about 1.5 miles. It also is objectively such little time that it's so easy to convince yourself to get these runs in. I know as I get deeper into the training plan, the 15-minute runs will no longer be an option. So, I'm going to do them whenever they are available.
